Hello, my name is Eric. I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) in Washington state. I am accepting individuals 18+ years of age both in person and Telehealth.
I was born here in the North Seattle area. I graduated from Seattle Pacific University with a degree in music performance and later went on to receive my MA in counseling psychology from The Seattle School of Theology and Psychology. I continue to play and write music while practicing as a therapist.
I have 3+ years’ experience working in community mental health care where I worked with a diverse set of people and situations, including people struggling with depression/anxiety, PTSD, psychosis, Bipolar, substance abuse, issues of race/identity, and homelessness/extreme poverty.
I view different therapeutic approaches like I view different musical genres, it is not about which one is superior, but rather which one best speaks to you. While I do have experience and training with a variety of modalities, my approach primarily uses the frameworks of client-centered, existential, attachment, interrelational psychodynamic, object-relations, and cognitive behavioral therapy. Ultimately, the therapeutic work is guided by who you are as a person and our working relationship together.
I believe therapy involves the whole person. This includes relationships, thoughts and emotions, personalities, significant events in our past and present, unique individualities, and our cultural contexts. Through the collaborative process of therapy, we gain a deeper understanding of our whole self and learn how to better address areas in our life that are not working for us.
