I am a licensed independent clinical social worker (LICSW). I hold of master of social work degree (MSW) in clinical social work from the University of Pennsylvania’s School of Social Policy and Practice. I view therapy as a space for cultivating a more conscious, intentional heart. I leverage curiosity and creativity in service of crafting a hopeful and transformative approach to your life. I’m trained in a diverse and wide variety of techniques and I’m open, willing, and eager to leverage all of my training in service of you.

At outpatient and hospital-based systems, I have worked with clients across a wide array of presenting concerns, including managing symptoms of anxiety, mood dysregulation, and depression, healing with/from trauma, managing grief and loss, recovery from substance abuse and addiction, and recovery with/from eating disorders. I work with clients at every stage of development in one-on-one, couples, and/or family sessions.

Broadly speaking, I am explorative in my work, and I find myself willing to try things out to see if it gets good results even if doing so is not always ‘standard practice.’ My theoretical home is built in attachment-based and relationally-oriented theories infused with the principles of liberation and postcolonial/poststructuralist psychologies. I have formal training in evidence-based therapies, such as mindfulness-based cognitive therapy and motivational interviewing. My therapeutic process includes (but is certainly not limited to) understanding the impact of meaningful relationships in your life, raising awareness of irrational thoughts and belief systems, increasing emotional connectivity, and strategizing behavioral changes. Session might begin with discussing immediate stressors experienced during your past week expand to address the ways in which larger systems of racial, economic, gender-based, and sexual oppression affect us all and end in identifying concrete steps to take to resolve problematic behaviors. I hold space for the breadth of human experience, and, in session, I make as much room for laughter as well as tears. I want to know all pieces of you, ranging from what music you’re listening to who’s in your family and where ‘home’ is for you. It is important to me that I offer a range of possibilities so you can feel comfortable trying out different options. I follow what works for you, and I think of us as a team. We co-create a vision for a life best-suited to your strengths.

Intertwined in my work is a profound reverence for the wisdom embedded in mind/body integration. I have been trained in Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). My work using EMDR has focused primarily on treatment of trauma and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and has recently expanded to address a wider array of anxiety-based concerns. Additionally, for clients with whom it resonates, I have offered my training as a yoga teacher in the therapy room. My clients and I have use grounding exercises, meditation, and simple breathing techniques as tools to deepen the work in traditional talk therapy.

My hope for every client with whom I work is that we discover a way for you to live with presence and compassion. The center of my work is all about connection and the ways in which we can all create deeper intimacy in a skillful way.
