Cindy Martin, MSW, LICSW

Make the first step towards a better you.

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a Masters of Social Work from the University of Washington with a concentration in Integrated Health / Mental Health Advanced Practice.  In addition to my licensure as a psychotherapist, I am also certificated as a Child Mental Health Specialist and a School Social Worker.

My Background/ Approach:

I had many challenges during my teenage years and often found myself struggling to manage. However, I was lucky to have an adult in my teenage years who was really interested in who I was, someone who listened to me and believed in me.  I didn’t realize at the time but that experience would lead me to my passion for the profession I chose. As a therapist, my clinical focus is with teenagers, children, families, and adults.

During my undergrad and post- graduate, I had the honor of working with a wide range of concerns with teens, children, and families. The work often included: behavioral challenges, low self-esteem, gender identity, relationships, self-harm, medical issues, trauma, abuse, substance abuse, and survivors of domestic violence.  I have seen, firsthand, what a difference therapeutic relationships can foster in youth, teenagers and adults.

My approach includes providing a supportive, non-judgmental, collaborative environment for healing, positive changes, and happiness. Life gets hard for everyone and sometimes we just need a little help getting through those difficult times. We will work together finding the strength within ourselves and develop resilience during these hard times. My goal as a therapist is to create a therapeutic alliance with clients as I believe that the client is the expert of their life.

My theoretical orientation primarily draws from a family systems approach. Additionally, I have training in a variety of different therapeutic methods tailored to each individual’s therapeutic goals. These methods including talk therapy, play therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, solution-based, and mindfulness techniques.
